Ingredients
- 1 cup sushi rice (200 g)
- 2 cups water (480 ml)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (30 ml)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (12 g)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 g)
- 1/2 pound sushi-grade salmon or tuna, sliced (225 g)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (60 ml)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (5 g)
- 1 sheet nori, cut into small strips
- 1/4 cup pickled ginger (60 g)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Combine the rice and 2 cups of water in a pot, then bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
- Transfer rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture.
- Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
- Arrange the sushi rice evenly in serving bowls.
- Layer the sliced salmon or tuna on top of the rice.
- Add avocado slices next to the fish.
- Arrange cucumber slices alongside the avocado.
- Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the top.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over the bowl.
- Garnish with nori strips and pickled ginger.
- Add a small dollop of wasabi paste if desired.
- Sprinkle chopped green onions over the finished bowl.
