Description

A delightful dish that combines sushi-grade tuna with crispy tostadas and spicy chipotle mayonnaise, creating a feast for the senses.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound sushi-grade tuna, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • 4 tostada shells
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
  • 1 tablespoon adobo sauce from the can
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: avocado slices, pickled red onion, cilantro leaves


Instructions

  1. Dice the sushi-grade tuna into small, uniform pieces using a sharp knife.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and lime juice.
  3. Add the diced tuna to the marinade, gently tossing to coat.
  4. Stir in the thinly sliced green onion and toasted sesame seeds.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, cover, and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  6. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise with minced chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, and lime juice.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper or more chipotle if desired.
  8. Ensure tostada shells are crispy, baking them at 350°F for a few minutes if needed.
  9. Spread chipotle mayonnaise over each tostada shell.
  10. Spoon the marinated tuna tartare over the chipotle mayonnaise.
  11. Garnish with optional toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

For added flavor, consider garnishing with lime wedges and serve with a refreshing beverage such as sparkling water or lemonade.
