Description

A delightful recipe for seared tuna steaks paired with a creamy garlic sauce and a refreshing salad, perfect for summer evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens (arugula, spinach, or baby kale)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or chives)

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the tuna: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Remove from heat and let rest.
  3. Make the creamy garlic sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add cream: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Add Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Prepare the salad: In a bowl, combine mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onion. Toss with your favorite dressing or simply a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar.
  6. Plate the dish: Slice the tuna steaks against the grain. Arrange on plates beside the salad. Drizzle creamy garlic sauce over the tuna steaks.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle fresh herbs on top for a colorful finish. Serve immediately while everything is hot.

Notes

For better results, allow the tuna to rest after searing, and adjust seasonings during the cooking process to suit your taste.
