  • 30 g ghee
  • 15 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 30 g all-purpose flour (1/4 cup)
  • 950 ml seafood broth (4 cups)
  • 240 ml coconut cream (1 cup)
  • 5 g cayenne pepper (1/2 tsp)
  • 5 g paprika (1 tsp)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 30 ml lemon juice (2 tbsp)
  • 8 g fresh parsley, chopped (2 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually add the seafood broth, whisking to avoid lumps.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until slightly thickened.
  7. Add the shrimp, crab meat, and scallops to the pot.
  8. Cook the seafood until it is opaque and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Stir in the heavy cream and reduce the heat to low.
  10. Add the cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  11. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  12. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  13. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  14. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
  15. Serve the bisque in bowls and garnish with additional parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, opt for fresh seafood over imitation crab meat.
  • Enhance the coconut undertones by using coconut oil in place of vegetable oil.
  • Adjust the spiciness level by adding more or less cayenne pepper to your liking.
