Description

A flavorful dish that combines sweet and spicy shrimp with rice, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups rice (jasmine or basmati)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste or flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: lime wedges and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions. Allow the rice to rest once cooked.
  2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, chili paste or flakes, salt, and pepper to create the sweet and spicy sauce.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp to the skillet, cooking until they turn pink and opaque, approximately 3-4 minutes.
  5. Toss in the diced bell pepper and green onions, stirring for another 2 minutes until they soften.
  6. Pour the sweet and spicy sauce over shrimp and vegetables, tossing to coat evenly. Let simmer for an additional minute.
  7. Serve shrimp mixture over rice, garnishing with lime wedges and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Ensure shrimp is not overcooked for the best texture. You can customize the spice level by adjusting the chili paste or flakes.
