Description

A delightful shrimp dish infused with sweet and spicy flavors, served on a bed of fluffy jasmine rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine rice and water; bring to a boil. Then reduce heat, cover, and simmer until cooked.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together honey, chili paste, minced garlic, and soy sauce. Set aside.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until they turn pink and opaque, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  6. Pour the sweet and spicy sauce over the shrimp and cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve the shrimp on a bed of rice, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

Adjust the heat level by altering the amount of chili paste. For added brightness, a splash of lime juice works wonders.
