Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) maple syrup (30 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce (15 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice (15 milliliters)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (5 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) chili powder (5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) smoked paprika (2 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground cumin (2 grams)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground black pepper (1 gram)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish (optional)
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes if using wooden skewers.
- In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, honey, soy sauce, and lime juice.
- Add garlic powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, and cayenne pepper to the bowl.
- Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Whisk the marinade ingredients together until well combined.
- Place the peeled and deveined shrimp into the marinade, ensuring they are well coated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to marinate.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers, leaving a little space between each shrimp.
- Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Place the shrimp skewers on the grill.
- Grill shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and opaque.
- Remove skewers from the grill and transfer to a serving platter.
- Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro, if desired.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
