Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) gochujang (30 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame oil (15 milliliters)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ginger, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) sesame seeds, toasted
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Add the shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the marinade.
  3. Let the shrimp marinate for 15-20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the skillet.
  6. Sauté the bell peppers for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  7. Remove the bell peppers from the skillet and set aside.
  8. In the same skillet, add the marinated shrimp in a single layer.
  9. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through.
  10. Return the bell peppers to the skillet with the shrimp.
  11. Stir everything together and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  12. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat the peppers through.
  13. Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  14. Serve immediately.
