Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (454 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey (60 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (60 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ginger, freshly grated (15 grams)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (15 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (15 milliliters)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Add shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly in the marinade.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth to make a slurry.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Remove shrimp from marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
  7. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  8. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
  9. Pour reserved marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  10. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and red pepper flakes, if using.
  11. Cook the sauce, stirring, until it thickens slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
  12. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  13. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  14. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds if desired.
