Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (454 grams)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey (60 milliliters)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (60 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil (30 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ginger, freshly grated (15 grams)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (15 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (15 milliliters)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ginger, and minced garlic.
- Add shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly in the marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth to make a slurry.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove shrimp from marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Pour reserved marinade into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Cook the sauce, stirring, until it thickens slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds if desired.
