  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 milliliters) honey
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 milliliters) soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters) fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters) sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) (1.25 milliliters) red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 milliliters) green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade and mix well.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Heat olive oil and sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove shrimp from marinade, reserving the liquid.
  6. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until pink.
  7. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with shrimp.
  8. Add red pepper flakes and stir to combine.
  9. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  10. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions.
  11. Garnish with sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Pat the shrimp dry before marinating to avoid excess liquid in the pan.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • Enhance the dish by toasting sesame seeds in a dry skillet before sprinkling on top.
