Description

A delightful surf and turf dish combining succulent steak and tender shrimp, drizzled with a decadent creamy garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye or strip steaks (1-inch thick)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for steaks)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp butter (for basting)
  • ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for shrimp)
  • ½ tsp salt (for shrimp)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (for shrimp)
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 1 tbsp butter (for sauce)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice for serving
  • Steamed asparagus, green beans, or roasted broccoli for serving
  • Lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the steaks dry and season both sides with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Let them sit at room temperature for 15 minutes for even cooking.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the steaks into the skillet and sear for 3–4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. In the last minute, add the tablespoon of butter and baste the steaks with the melted butter. Transfer the cooked steaks to a plate, tent loosely with foil, and let them rest.
  3. Using the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. If necessary, add a drizzle of olive oil, then place the shrimp in a single layer. Season with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Sear the shrimp for 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon over the shrimp before removing them from the skillet and setting aside.
  4. In a separate saucepan, melt the tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, allowing the sauce to thicken for 3–5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then remove it from heat.
  5. Slice the rested steak if desired and plate it alongside the shrimp. Spoon the creamy garlic sauce generously over both. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your choice of mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice, along with steamed asparagus, green beans, or roasted broccoli. Add lemon wedges for an extra zesty touch.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary to the steak while basting.
