- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated (5 g)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil (15 ml)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (15 ml)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (60 ml)
- 12 bao buns
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots (60 g)
- 1/2 cup sliced cucumber (60 g)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (25 g)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (15 g)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Gradually add cold water to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Dip shrimp into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Fry shrimp in the pan until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove shrimp from the pan and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, gochujang, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar.
- Heat the sauce over medium heat, stirring until it thickens slightly.
- Add the fried shrimp to the saucepan, tossing to coat them evenly in the sticky sauce.
- Steam or warm the bao buns according to package instructions.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise inside each bao bun.
