- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) sesame oil
- juice of 1/2 lime
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) kewpie mayonnaise
- 1 to 2 tablespoons (23 ml) chili sauce
- 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (8 ml) red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) lemon juice
- egg roll wrappers or wonton wrappers
- vegetable oil, for frying
- sea salt, optional
- avocado
- sesame seeds
- teriyaki sauce
- cilantro
- jalapenos, for more spice
- green onions
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the chopped tuna with chili sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice. Stir until well mixed.
- For the spicy mayo, blend mayonnaise, chili sauce, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, sugar, and lemon juice in a small bowl until you achieve a smooth texture. Set aside.
- Fill a deep pan with vegetable oil, about 1 to 2 inches high, and heat until the temperature reaches between 325°F and 350°F.
- As the oil is heating, slice the egg roll or wonton wrappers into triangle shapes resembling tortilla chips.
- Once the oil is ready, fry the wonton triangles in small groups to avoid overcrowding.
- When the chips turn golden and bubbly, remove them from the oil and let them drain on a wire rack. Continue this process with the remaining chips.
- If desired, sprinkle some sea salt over the wonton chips, then proceed to assemble the dish.
- Layer the chips in a serving bowl or tray, followed by the tuna, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, avocado, cilantro, sesame seeds, green onions, and jalapenos. Enjoy!
Notes
- Bake the wonton triangles in the oven for a healthier alternative to frying.
- Squeeze fresh lime juice over the dish for a zesty citrus kick.
- Adjust the amount of chili sauce and jalapenos to customize the spice level to your liking.
