Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) squid, cleaned and sliced (450 grams)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil (30 milliliters)
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh ginger, minced (15 grams)
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) soybean paste (15 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chili paste or sauce (15 grams)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) sugar (5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (2.5 grams)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (15 grams)
- 1 cup (240 ml) fresh basil leaves (30 grams)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced squid to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until just cooked.
- Remove the squid from the pan and set aside.
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the same pan.
- Stir in the sliced onion, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the sliced red and green bell peppers to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes.
- Return the cooked squid to the pan.
- Pour in the soy sauce, fish sauce, and chili paste. Stir to combine.
- Add the sugar and black pepper. Stir well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Mix in the chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Add the fresh basil leaves and stir until just wilted.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
