Description

Delight in the vibrant flavors of spicy shrimp tacos complemented by a creamy avocado crema, perfect for casual dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed for consistency
  • 6 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
  • ½ cup carrot, shredded
  • 1 small jalapeño, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cumin, cayenne, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Blend avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, and salt until smooth. Add water as needed to reach a creamy consistency. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Fill each tortilla with cabbage, carrot, shrimp, and jalapeño slices. Drizzle with avocado crema and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  5. Serve with lime wedges and extra avocado crema on the side.

Notes

Allow marinated shrimp to rest for optimal flavor absorption. Try various toppings for added texture and flavor.
