A hearty and flavorful dish featuring sardines and eggs, perfect for any time of day.
Ingredients
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 2 fresh chilies (optional), sliced
- 1 (15oz) can sardine in tomato sauce
- 1/4 can water
- 1.5 tbsp fish sauce
- 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp chili powder (optional)
- 4 eggs
Instructions
- Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until they become translucent.
- Add the sliced garlic and optional fresh chilies, stirring until the garlic releases its fragrance.
- Introduce the canned sardines and pour in a quarter can of water. You may crush the sardines gently with the spatula if preferred.
- Season the mixture with fish sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and optional chili powder. Stir well and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, carefully crack four eggs into the skillet.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet. The eggs will cook through to your desired doneness.
- After cooking, turn off the heat, garnish, and prepare to serve.
Notes
Serve with crusty bread or white rice. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days.
