Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds raw large shrimp (680 g)
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter (70 g)
  • 3 tablespoons minced garlic (about 10 cloves)
  • Finely grated zest of 1 medium lemon (1 tablespoon)
  • Juice of 1 medium lemon (45 ml)
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)


Instructions

  1. Use paper towels to dry 1 1/2 pounds of raw large shrimp.
  2. In a large 12-inch frying pan, gently heat 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-low flame until melted. Introduce 3 tablespoons of minced garlic and sauté until the aroma is released, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the shrimp, the finely grated zest of 1 medium lemon, the juice from 1 medium lemon, 2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir to combine everything and spread the shrimp out evenly.
  4. Turn the heat up to medium. Continue to cook, stirring now and then, until the shrimp are firm and perfectly cooked, roughly 3 to 5 minutes. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and lemon wedges before serving.
