Description

This vibrant spicy lemon fish soup blends the tenderness of white fish with zingy lemon and a hint of heat from green chilies, creating a comforting dish that warms the soul.

Ingredients

  • 2 fillets of white fish (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 4 cups fish stock or vegetable broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  • Juice and zest of 2 lemons
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms or vegetables of choice

Instructions

  1. In a pot over medium heat, sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.
  2. Add the green chilies and fry for another minute.
  3. Pour in the fish stock or broth and bring to a boil.
  4. Lower the heat and add the fish fillets, cooking until they are opaque and flake easily.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice, zest, and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add any optional vegetables and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
