Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters) vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 milliliters) soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 grams) Korean chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 grams) Korean chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters) sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 grams) brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece (2.5 centimeters) ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) (120 milliliters) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (10 grams) cornstarch
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (10 grams) sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, gochujang, gochugaru, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. Add chicken pieces to the bowl and mix well to coat.
  4. Marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper to the skillet.
  7. Sauté vegetables until slightly softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  8. Remove vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  9. Add marinated chicken to the skillet.
  10. Cook chicken until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  11. Return the sautéed vegetables to the skillet with the chicken.
  12. In a small bowl, mix water and cornstarch until smooth.
  13. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet and stir well.
  14. Simmer the mixture until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  15. Stir in chopped green onions.
  16. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the dish before serving.
  17. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
