Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) sea scallops (450 grams)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) unsalted butter (45 grams)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) red pepper flakes (5 grams)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice (30 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) chopped fresh parsley (8 grams)
Instructions
- Pat the sea scallops dry with paper towels.
- Season the scallops with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the scallops to the skillet in a single layer.
- Sear the scallops for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the scallops from the skillet and set aside.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the skillet.
- Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes.
- Sauté the garlic and pepper flakes for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and mix well.
- Return the scallops to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the scallops are fully heated through.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley over the scallops.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
