Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons olive oil (60 ml)
- 4 cloves garlic, finely sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) chili flakes
- 200 g shrimp (substitute with beef or chicken)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of half a lemon (plus 2 lemon quarters for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) paprika
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Pour the olive oil into a cool skillet, then add the sliced garlic and chili flakes. Place the skillet over medium heat and gently warm the oil until it starts to sizzle. When the oil is sizzling, sauté the garlic for an additional minute. (Be cautious, as garlic can burn quickly if overcooked!)
- Introduce the shrimp to the pan, return to sizzling, and cook for approximately 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp turn pink and begin to curl.
- Season the dish with salt and pepper, then drizzle the juice of half a lemon over the shrimp. Give the shrimp a final stir before turning off the heat.
- Dust the dish with paprika and chopped parsley, and serve right away while it’s still sizzling.
- Pair with crusty bread and Fino Sherry for a delightful and impressive appetizer, or include it as part of a tapas selection.
Notes
- Marinate the prawns in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, and chili flakes for 30 minutes before cooking for a more robust flavor.
- Experiment with herbs like cilantro or tarragon to give a unique twist to this dish.
- Try using smoked paprika instead of regular paprika for a spicy kick.
