Description

Crispy Southern crab beignets bursting with fresh coastal flavors, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh crab meat
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk and eggs.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in crab meat and green onions.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove beignets with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy.
