Description

Indulge in a delightful culinary experience with our Shrimp Tortellini Alfredo recipe. Learn how to make this creamy pasta dish from scratch!

Ingredients

  • 2 packages (9 oz each) refrigerated cheese tortellini (255 g each)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) salted butter
  • 2 cups (475 ml) heavy cream
  • 4 oz Chive and Onion cream cheese (115 g)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1 package (12 oz) small cooked shrimp (peeled, deveined, tails off) (340 g)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot filled with salted water, prepare the tortellini as per the instructions on the package. Once done, remove water.
  2. Meanwhile, in a spacious non-stick pan, combine the butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Mix and heat until the butter and cream cheese are fully melted.
  3. Incorporate the Parmesan cheese and garlic powder into the mixture. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook slowly for about 15 minutes, or until the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
  4. In the meantime, place the frozen shrimp under cold running water to fully defrost them. Once thawed, add the shrimp to the Alfredo sauce in the pan. Stir carefully.
  5. Transfer the cooked and drained tortellini into the pan. Mix gently to ensure the pasta and shrimp are evenly coated with the sauce. Optionally, sprinkle with parsley for garnish. Serve and delight in your meal!

Notes

  • For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half to reduce richness.
  • Add freshly chopped herbs like parsley or basil for a burst of freshness and color.
  • For a spicy kick, sprinkle in red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to enhance the dish.
