Ingredients
- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add grits. Cook according to package instructions until creamy.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
- Add shrimp, cooking until pink and cooked through.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked grits, shrimp mixture, milk, and cheddar cheese. Stir until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour mixture into a greased casserole dish.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding cayenne pepper or hot sauce. Experiment with different cheeses like gouda or pepper jack.
