Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 2 flatbreads or naan
  • 1 cup (240 ml) shredded mozzarella cheese (100 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) grated plant-based Parmesan cheese (25 grams)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) marinara or pizza sauce (120 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) garlic powder (5 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried Italian seasoning (5 grams)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional) (1 gram)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped fresh basil (10 grams)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Place the shrimp in a bowl and add olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Toss the shrimp to coat evenly with the mixture.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  7. Place the flatbreads on a baking sheet.
  8. Spread an equal amount of marinara or pizza sauce over each flatbread.
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce on each flatbread.
  10. Distribute the cooked shrimp evenly over the cheese.
  11. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the shrimp.
  12. If using, add red pepper flakes on top for spice.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  14. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  15. Garnish with chopped fresh basil before serving.
