A classic shrimp cocktail recipe featuring tender shrimp and a zesty cocktail sauce, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs raw shrimp
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, cut into 4 wedges (for serving, optional)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup mild chili sauce
  • 3-4 Tbsp prepared horseradish (adjust to taste)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce (Tabasco or your favorite)

Instructions

  1. Thaw the shrimp according to package instructions, then rinse under cold water and thoroughly pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  3. Place the shrimp on a large rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Stir to combine, then arrange the shrimp in a single layer.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and are just cooked through.
  5. Combine all of the cocktail sauce ingredients, adding horseradish and hot sauce to taste. Cover and refrigerate sauce and shrimp for at least one hour or overnight. Serve chilled.

Notes

For optimal flavor, marinate the shrimp for 30 minutes before cooking. Chilling post-cooking enhances flavor meld.
