Description

A delightful shrimp casserole featuring large shrimp, creamy cheese, and a crunchy panko topping that brings warmth and nostalgia to your table.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds large shrimp (21-24 count), peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon salt for cooking water
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, plus more for greasing the pan
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish with butter.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the Old Bay seasoning.
  3. Add the shrimp to the boiling water and cook until opaque, about 30 seconds. Drain and transfer to a mixing bowl.
  4. In the bowl with the shrimp, add the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the shrimp mixture and stir again until combined.
  6. Transfer the shrimp and cheese mixture into the prepared casserole dish.
  7. Melt a tablespoon of butter and mix with the panko breadcrumbs. Sprinkle the mixture over the casserole.
  8. Bake uncovered for 13-15 minutes or until the center reaches 145°F.
  9. For a golden-brown top, broil for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  10. Allow to rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Fresh shrimp yield the best flavor. Experiment with cheese types for different textures, and consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper for heat.
