Description

Crispy and flavorful shrimp balls made with fresh shrimp, garlic, and ginger, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for binding)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Coarsely chop the shrimp and place it in a large bowl.
  2. Add the finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, black pepper, and cilantro (if using).
  3. Gently mix until combined. If using cornstarch, add it now and incorporate it fully.
  4. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Once the oil is heated, gently place the shrimp balls into the oil, careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  8. Transfer the shrimp balls to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm, garnished with additional green onions or cilantro if desired.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake them at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
