Description

Delicious shrimp balls that blend flavors of shrimp, garlic, ginger, and green onions for a crunchy, flavorful appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for binding)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp mixture: Begin by finely chopping the shrimp into small pieces.
  2. Combine the chopped shrimp, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, green onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the mix and stir until blended.
  4. Mix in cornstarch if the mixture feels loose, which is optional.
  5. Shape small balls about the size of a golf ball and place them on a plate.
  6. Cook the shrimp balls in heated vegetable oil over medium heat, frying until golden brown and crisp, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Maintain the oil temperature between 350°F and 375°F for crispy results. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
