Description

A delightful dish featuring creamy grits topped with sizzling garlic butter shrimp, crispy bacon, and green onions, evoking coastal memories.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 strips bacon, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Stir in the grits and cook according to package instructions until thickened.
  2. Stir in butter and cheese until melted and combined.
  3. In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes per side. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in green onions and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve the shrimp over the creamy grits, topped with crispy bacon.

Notes

For creamier grits, use stone-ground varieties. Adjust water for desired thickness and consider adding seasoning for extra flavor.
