Ingredients
- 1 package of wonton wrappers
- 8 ounces (227 g) of cooked shrimp chopped
- 8 ounces (227 g) block of cream cheese softened
- 1 tsp (5 ml) sesame oil
- 1 tsp (5 ml) rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) fresh minced ginger
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) minced green onions
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) cold water
- Sesame seeds
- Chives
Instructions
- Set your oven to preheat at 375°F.
- Let the cream cheese sit out for 20-30 minutes to reach room temperature.
- Dice the shrimp into small pieces.
- Finely chop the garlic and ginger, then slice the green onions.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the chopped shrimp, sesame oil, rice vinegar, freshly minced ginger and garlic, and the chopped green onions.
- To ensure the wontons keep their shape while baking, use a mini muffin pan.
- Lightly coat the muffin pan with cooking spray.
- Gently press a wonton wrapper into each muffin cup.
- Spoon a teaspoon of the cream cheese filling into the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Moisten the wrapper edges with cold water using a brush.
- Carefully bring the wrapper edges together, twisting slightly to seal.
- After sealing, brush the wonton wrapper edges with water again.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
- Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until they turn golden.
- Meanwhile, mix low-sodium soy sauce and a tablespoon of cold water to create the dipping sauce.
- Add sesame seeds and a few chives to the dipping sauce.
- Once the wontons are baked, arrange them on a serving dish and garnish with chives.
- Present the crispy wontons with the dipping sauce at the center of the platter.
