Ahi tuna steaks with a crisp sesame crust, perfectly seared for a flavorful dining experience.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs sushi grade ahi tuna steaks
- 3 TBSP soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/3 C sesame seeds
- 1 TBSP brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- Smoked sea salt (for serving)
- Sliced green onion (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and sesame oil to create a marinade.
- Place the tuna steaks in the marinade and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine sesame seeds, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt to form the sesame crust.
- Remove the tuna from the marinade and press each steak into the sesame mixture, coating it thoroughly.
- Grill or sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if you prefer them cooked through.
- Serve with smoked sea salt and sliced green onion.
Notes
Use sushi-grade ahi tuna for the best flavor and texture. Adjust cooking time based on the thickness of the steaks.
