Ingredients
- 2 tuna steaks (6-8 ounces each), about 1 inch thick
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)

- Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
- Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet and place on a plate. Top each steak with a tablespoon of the garlic herb butter.
- Let the butter melt slightly before serving.
Notes
Choose high-quality, fresh tuna for best results. Let the tuna rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute.
