Description

Delight in the rich, buttery flavor of seared tuna steaks topped with fragrant garlic herb butter, perfect for a satisfying seafood dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (6-8 ounces each), about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, rosemary, or a mix)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped herbs, and lemon juice. Mix well to combine.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  4. Carefully place the tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  5. Remove the tuna steaks from the skillet and place on a plate. Top each steak with a tablespoon of the garlic herb butter.
  6. Let the butter melt slightly before serving.

Notes

Choose high-quality, fresh tuna for best results. Let the tuna rest for a couple of minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute.
