Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil (45 milliliters)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika (2.5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground black pepper (1 gram)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream (240 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped fresh parsley (15 grams)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (14 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) crushed red pepper flakes (optional) (1 gram)


Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  3. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the same skillet.
  5. Add the chopped onion and diced red bell pepper to the skillet.
  6. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the onion is translucent and the peppers are soft.
  7. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  8. Add the smoked paprika, ground black pepper, and salt to the skillet.
  9. Stir well to combine with the vegetables.
  10. Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  11. Add the lemon juice and butter to the skillet, stirring to melt and combine.
  12. If desired, add the crushed red pepper flakes for heat.
  13. Return the shrimp to the skillet, stirring to coat in the sauce.
  14. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are heated through.
  15. Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the dish before serving.
