Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) olive oil (45 milliliters)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) smoked paprika (2.5 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground black pepper (1 gram)
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream (240 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice (15 milliliters)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped fresh parsley (15 grams)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (14 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) crushed red pepper flakes (optional) (1 gram)
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
- Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the same skillet.
- Add the chopped onion and diced red bell pepper to the skillet.
- Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the onion is translucent and the peppers are soft.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the smoked paprika, ground black pepper, and salt to the skillet.
- Stir well to combine with the vegetables.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Add the lemon juice and butter to the skillet, stirring to melt and combine.
- If desired, add the crushed red pepper flakes for heat.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet, stirring to coat in the sauce.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are heated through.
- Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the dish before serving.
