A crispy and flavorful fried squid dish paired with zesty garlic mayo, perfect for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500 g Squid
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 cup Cornstarch
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup Mayonnaise
- 2 Garlic cloves, minced
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Defrost the squid overnight in the fridge if frozen. Drain off any excess liquid and pat dry.
- Cut the whole squid into thick rings using a sharp knife.
- Mix flour, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
- Add the squid to the flour mixture and dredge, ensuring each piece is covered.
- Heat oil in a large pot or Dutch Oven over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, shake off excess flour and add squid in batches.
- Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving.
- Serve with garlic mayo and lemon wedges.
Notes
Prepare the garlic mayo ahead of time for better flavor. Uniform cutting of squid rings ensures even cooking.
