Description

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these Portuguese shrimp croquettes are bursting with flavor, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  2. Add the shrimp and cook until pink.
  3. Stir in the parsley, heavy cream, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Once cooled, form the mixture into small balls.
  6. Dredge each ball in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and roll in breadcrumbs.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot.
  8. Fry the croquettes in batches until golden brown.
  9. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying to achieve a perfect crunch. Consider serving with a zesty dipping sauce like aioli.
