Description

A refined dish featuring perfectly seared scallops with a buttery flavor, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 12 large scallops (dry-packed preferred)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat each scallop dry with paper towels.
  2. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on high until it shimmers, approximately 90 seconds.
  4. Carefully place the scallops in the hot pan, ensuring they are spaced out.
  5. Allow them to sear undisturbed for 1-2 minutes until a golden crust forms.
  6. Using tongs, flip each scallop and add butter to the pan.
  7. Tilt the pan and baste the scallops with melted butter for an additional 30 seconds.
  8. Transfer the seared scallops to a plate and allow them to rest for one minute.
  9. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the scallops and sprinkle with parsley if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use dry-packed scallops for the best flavor and searing results. Pair with fresh greens or a light salad.
