Description

Discover the ultimate guide to cooking delicious oysters at home. Learn how to shuck, grill, and enjoy these delectable seafood treats with our easy recipes!

Ingredients

  • – 16 whole live oysters (16 oysters)
  • – 2 cloves garlic, finely minced (2 cloves garlic)
  • – 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (45 ml)
  • – 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (42 g)
  • – 1 teaspoon lemon juice (5 ml)
  • – 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) chili pepper flakes (or substitute with dashes of Tabasco)
  • – 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5 g)
  • – cracked black pepper to taste
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) finely minced parsley (1 tablespoon (15 ml) parsley)

Instructions

  1. Place a small saucepan on the stove and heat over medium-low.
  2. Once warm, add the vegetable oil and unsalted butter.
  3. Incorporate the minced garlic and cook until you can smell its aroma, roughly 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in the lemon juice, chili flakes, salt, cracked black pepper, and minced parsley.
  5. Turn off the heat.
  6. For those skilled in shucking: Open the oysters and drizzle a little of the sauce into each.
  7. Arrange the oysters on a very hot, preheated grill, cover them, and let cook for about 5 to 6 minutes or until the edges begin to curl.
  8. If not shucking: Set the oysters, with the cup side facing up, on a very hot, preheated grill, cover, and cook for 1 minute.
  9. The shells should start to open slightly.
  10. Quickly take the oysters off the grill.
  11. Using an oven mitt for safety, hold an oyster and use a shucking knife (or a clean screwdriver) to pry it open—it should open easily.
  12. Pour some sauce into each oyster and place them back on the grill.
  13. Cover and continue grilling for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  14. Did you enjoy the recipe? We would love to hear from you! Leave a comment and rate us with stars below!

Notes

  • Make sure to use a very hot grill when cooking the oysters for proper and quick cooking.
  • For a spicier flavor, choose Tabasco sauce over chili pepper flakes.
  • Use a sturdy shucking knife or screwdriver to open the oysters safely and easily.
