Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 1 orange, zest and juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (8 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (15 milliliters)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ginger, minced (15 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil (30 milliliters)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) green onions, chopped (15 grams)


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine orange zest, orange juice, honey, and soy sauce. Mix well.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth.
  3. Add cornstarch mixture to the orange sauce and stir until combined.
  4. Season shrimp with salt and black pepper.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Add minced garlic and minced ginger to the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute.
  7. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  8. Pour the orange sauce over the shrimp in the skillet.
  9. Add red pepper flakes, if using, and stir to combine.
  10. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the shrimp.
  11. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions.
  12. Serve immediately.
