  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) orange juice (60 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (8 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (15 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) green onions, chopped for garnish


Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. In another small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through.
  6. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  7. Pour the orange juice mixture into the same skillet and bring to a simmer.
  8. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and red pepper flakes, if using.
  9. Cook sauce for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  10. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
  11. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat shrimp through.
  12. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.
  13. Serve immediately.
