Ingredients
- 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) orange juice (60 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey (30 milliliters)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (8 grams)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (15 milliliters)
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- In another small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and black pepper.
- Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and cooked through.
- Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- Pour the orange juice mixture into the same skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Cook sauce for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat shrimp through.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.
- Serve immediately.
