Description

A comforting and creamy chowder made with fresh fish, potatoes, and milk, capturing the essence of coastal living.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh fish (haddock or cod), cut into chunks
  • 2 cups diced potatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water or fish stock (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened.
  3. Introduce the diced potatoes and pour in enough water or fish stock to cover the ingredients.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 15 minutes).
  5. Add the fish chunks and milk, stirring gently to combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes

For a thicker chowder, mash some of the potatoes against the pot. Use fresh fish for the best flavor.
