A comforting and creamy chowder made with fresh fish, potatoes, and milk, capturing the essence of coastal living.
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh fish (haddock or cod), cut into chunks
- 2 cups diced potatoes
- 1 cup milk
- 1 chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water or fish stock (as needed)
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened.
- Introduce the diced potatoes and pour in enough water or fish stock to cover the ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 15 minutes).
- Add the fish chunks and milk, stirring gently to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.
Notes
For a thicker chowder, mash some of the potatoes against the pot. Use fresh fish for the best flavor.
