Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk

- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Boil salted water in a large pot, and add the elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper.
- Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted.
- Drain the cooked macaroni and combine with the cheese sauce, ensuring every piece is coated.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter on top.
- Sprinkle paprika over the top for extra flavor.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
