A luxurious twist on a classic comfort food, combining creamy cheeses and fresh lobster meat over elbow macaroni.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 pound cooked lobster meat, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually add the milk and heavy cream, stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni and lobster meat to the cheese sauce; mix well.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs if using.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For a golden top, use a broiler for the last few minutes of baking. Experiment with different cheese varieties for unique flavors.
