Description

A luxurious twist on a classic comfort food, combining creamy cheeses and fresh lobster meat over elbow macaroni.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 pound cooked lobster meat, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the milk and heavy cream, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  5. Stir in the cheddar and Gruyère cheeses until melted and smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni and lobster meat to the cheese sauce; mix well.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs if using.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  10. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For a golden top, use a broiler for the last few minutes of baking. Experiment with different cheese varieties for unique flavors.
