Description

Learn how to make delicious Korean Spicy Gochujang Shrimp with our easy recipe. Perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor, this dish is a must-try!

Ingredients

  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) gochujang paste
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • – 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sesame oil (toasted or untoasted)
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar
  • – 1 medium red onion (thinly sliced)
  • – 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • – 1 kg beef prawns with tails intact
  • – 2 green onions (sliced)
  • – 1 lime
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Create the Gochujang Mixture: In a small dish, combine the gochujang paste, water, sesame oil, and rice vinegar.
  2. Prepare the Onions: Heat half of the vegetable oil in a pan over medium to high heat. Cook the sliced red onion for around 4 minutes, then add the crushed garlic and continue cooking for another minute. Take out of the pan and set aside.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Pour the remaining oil into the pan and maintain medium to high heat. Place half of the shrimp with tails in the pan. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning once, until they turn pink and are fully cooked. Remove them from the pan and set aside. Repeat the cooking process with the second half of the shrimp. Combine with the first batch.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Reduce the heat to a low to medium setting, add the prepared sauce to the pan, and stir gently. Once it starts to bubble, return the onion, garlic, and shrimp to the pan. Carefully stir everything together and let it simmer for three minutes.
  5. Finish and Serve: Take the pan off the heat. Top with sliced green onions, roasted sesame seeds, and squeeze lime juice over the dish. Serve with either rice or noodles.
