Description
A simple yet flavorful recipe for searing ahi tuna steaks in a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 6-8 ounces ahi tuna steaks, fresh or frozen, sushi-grade
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Set aside.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it get hot for about 2-3 minutes.
- Place the tuna steaks in the pan and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side until the outside develops a golden crust while keeping the center rare.
- Remove the tuna from the pan and set it aside. Lower the heat and add the garlic butter mixture to the same pan. Stir constantly for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant.
- Return the tuna steaks to the pan and spoon the garlic butter sauce over each piece. Cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute to coat the tuna and warm it slightly.
- Remove from heat and transfer the tuna to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
For variations, try substituting lemon juice with lime or adding fresh herbs for added flavor.
