Description

Crispy and spicy fried shrimp drizzled with hot honey for a sweet and savory delight.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, thawed, peeled, deveined, tail-on
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or a dairy-free option)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup hot honey (homemade or store-bought)
  • Parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp by soaking them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Remove shrimp from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, and dredge in the seasoned flour mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat and test with a small piece of shrimp.
  5. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Drizzle hot honey over the fried shrimp and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Adjust spice levels to taste and consider double-dipping for extra crunch.
