Description

Crispy fried shrimp coated in a delectable hot honey glaze, blending sweet and spicy flavors for a perfect dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix the buttermilk with the shrimp, coating well and setting aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Coat each shrimp in the seasoned flour mix followed by panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F.
  6. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain the fried shrimp on a paper towel-lined sheet pan.
  8. For the hot honey glaze, combine honey, hot sauce, butter, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan and heat until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the hot honey glaze over the shrimp or serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

For variations, consider adding lemon zest to the buttermilk or adjusting the heat level of the glaze based on your preference.
