Description

A delicious blend of crispy fried shrimp coated in a sweet and spicy hot honey glaze, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: Rinse the peeled and deveined shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Coat the shrimp: In the first shallow pan, combine flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In the second pan, pour in buttermilk. In the third pan, add panko breadcrumbs. Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, dip into buttermilk, and then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry the shrimp: Carefully place the coated shrimp into hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Prepare the hot honey glaze: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar until combined and heated through.
  5. Serve: Drizzle the hot honey glaze over the fried shrimp or serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

Consider chilling the shrimp in buttermilk for 30 minutes before frying to enhance flavor and tenderness.
