Description
A delightful fusion of sweet honey, crunchy walnuts, and tender shrimp, this Honey Walnut Shrimp recipe is sure to impress at any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp (shell removed and deveined)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1.5 tbsp condensed milk
- 2 tbsp honey
- Juice of 1/4 lemon (about 1 tbsp)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1/2 cup and 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 egg whites
Instructions
- Start by preparing the sugar walnuts. In a pan, add the walnuts and sugar, stirring occasionally until the sugar melts and coats the walnuts. Pour them onto parchment paper to cool.
- In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, condensed milk, honey, and lemon juice to create the sauce. Set it aside to let the flavors meld.
- In another bowl, combine the cornstarch with the seasoned shrimp until evenly coated.
- Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl until you reach a soft peak. Fold the cornstarch-coated shrimp into the egg whites.
- Heat a pan with oil over medium-high heat, adding the shrimp in batches. Fry them until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once the shrimp finishes cooking, drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Finally, combine the shrimp with the sauce and garnish with the sugar-coated walnuts.
Notes
Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and ensure to pat them dry before frying for optimal texture.
