Description

A delightful fusion of sweet honey, crunchy walnuts, and tender shrimp, this Honey Walnut Shrimp recipe is sure to impress at any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp (shell removed and deveined)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tbsp condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon (about 1 tbsp)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup and 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the sugar walnuts. In a pan, add the walnuts and sugar, stirring occasionally until the sugar melts and coats the walnuts. Pour them onto parchment paper to cool.
  2. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, condensed milk, honey, and lemon juice to create the sauce. Set it aside to let the flavors meld.
  3. In another bowl, combine the cornstarch with the seasoned shrimp until evenly coated.
  4. Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl until you reach a soft peak. Fold the cornstarch-coated shrimp into the egg whites.
  5. Heat a pan with oil over medium-high heat, adding the shrimp in batches. Fry them until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Once the shrimp finishes cooking, drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Finally, combine the shrimp with the sauce and garnish with the sugar-coated walnuts.

Notes

Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and ensure to pat them dry before frying for optimal texture.
