Ingredients

  • – 1/3 cup (80 ml) honey
  • – 1/4 cup (60 ml) tamari soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • – 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) freshly grated ginger
  • – 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) crushed red pepper flakes
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • – 1 pound (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) finely chopped cilantro or parsley
  • – 1 green onion, thinly sliced


Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the honey, tamari soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes.
  2. Place the shrimp in another bowl and drizzle a third of the prepared mixture over them. Mix well to evenly coat and let them sit in the marinade for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Warm the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, making sure to discard any extra marinade, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are just cooked through.
  4. Add the remaining sauce to the pan and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until it slightly thickens and heats through, about a minute.
  5. Remove from heat, mix in the chopped cilantro or parsley, and garnish with the sliced green onions before serving.
